Why
St. Peter's

Welcome to our St. Peter’s Lutheran School and Preschool website! Founded in 1855, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and School is one of the oldest Lutheran parishes in Fort Wayne. We are located in Northeast Fort Wayne at the intersection of Maysville Road and East State Boulevard, where teachers and administrators bring the Word of Christ to more than 280 students on a daily basis.

We are committed to providing each child with a Christ centered learning environment where they are challenged in every aspect of their life. We partner together with families in nurturing your child to Connect to Christ; Grow in His Grace; and Share Him with others!

St. Peter’s is accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Association and the state of Indiana. Academics at St. Peter’s challenge students to achieve their personal best. St. Peter’s standardized test scores (for grades 3-8) consistently outrank those of the surrounding community schools.

Faith Development

Growing in the knowledge and wisdom of our Heavenly Father is at the heart of everything we do here at St. Peter’s! We do this in each and every classroom and three separate times throughout the week, when we meet as a school family. We start and end our weeks together with whole school devotions in our school gym. We also worship together each and every Wednesday in our church sanctuary. During this time we sit with our chapel families, which are groups of students composed of K-8 students. We also have special whole school events as chapel families once a month on Friday afternoons to build our school community and family.

Chapel

Worship is an important part of our school week–a part that the entire school community anticipates each week. All parents are welcome to attend any and all chapel services!

We begin school each year by worshipping our Lord in the church sanctuary on the first day of school. This particular service begins at 9:00am. We have chapel services in the church sanctuary each week on Wednesday beginning at 8:20am. Along with the principal and pastors, guest speakers lead chapel as well. Usually the chapel service on the fourth Wednesday each month is led by one of our classes. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, the students prepare and lead the school in worship. We also end school each year with a chapel service in the church sanctuary. We hope to see you there!

St. Peters Church

For over 160 years as a congregation, God continues to bestow His blessings upon our ministry. He has allowed us to touch the lives of many through the faithful teaching and sharing of His life-giving, faith-strengthening Word and Sacraments. We are committed to the teaching of God’s inspired and infallible Word as explained by the creeds of the Christian Church and the Confessions of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
